DESCRIPTION: An old stable attached to an existing house becomes a single family house.
Towards the Street the facade closes itself avoiding the loud emissions of the cars while towards the private garden the house opens literally with two big sliding doors which connect interior and exterior into one single unit.
Volumetrically we couldn't built outside the parameters given by the existing roof which has been conserved. Cleverly wise the program for the new single family house has been fitted successfully within the boundaries of the old stable. In the ground floor an big open space hosts the kitchen and living-room becoming the social area of the house. In the upper level instead, the dormitories and their corresponding facilities have been accommodated.
One important scope was to keep as much as possible from the old character of the stable. In order to archive this, most of the wooden structure has been kept visible. Various planes cut and interpose within each other provoking a juxtaposition between old and new created spaces.
The wooden red facade maintains the original character of the old stable and in contradiction enhances proudly with it's dominant pigment the new born house. Casually on the plans the new built elements have to be drawn in red by law. The region of "Thurgau" is famous for the production of apples, the red color addresses also this characteristic of this beautiful part of Switzerland
